RF Component Repair
Overview
Analog and RF gear can be difficult to maintain and repair, especially if the solid state devices originally designed into it become obsolete. In certain cases, gear can be modified or rebuilt to return it to an acceptable operating condition. Below is an example of how we are developing specific retrofit assemblies for existing and widely used RF equipment. If you have a need to keep your analog or RF equipment going, let us take a look at how we might design a refurbishing package for you.
TV Amplifier UHF Tube Cavity Rebuilding and Tuning Service
The 9017 ceramic Tetrode, designed by RCA Lancaster in the 1980s, remains a workhorse amplifier component of LPTV and TV translator systems. GigaHertz LLC, which includes staff that were involved in the development of the full line of ITS transmitters and translators, has exclusive knowledge and experience with the cavity. Keep your systems running well for the remaining years of analog LPTV service in the U.S. by having your cavities rebuilt!
GigaHertz now offers completely refurbished cavities for the ITS-230 and ITS-232 families of transmitters. Each cavity has had the following work performed:
- Complete disassembly, cleaning, and replacement of all defective silver plated parts.
- Reassembly with all new finger stock, grid, and screen ferrite wires. Hi-Pot tested and painted.
- Swept with customer’s tube (if available), and power tested on channel 31 at full output power.
- Tuning to customer’s requested channel and set for proper gain and bandwidth.*
- Insure that all documentation and warranty information, as well as an installation guide, and a detailed set of operating instructions and recommendations, are included in each shipment. If the customer supplied the tube, it will be shipped in a separate carton.
GigaHertz will perform 9017 evaluations and supply customers with a complete performance report. This may assist the user to get additional life from a used tube, or determine the usefulness of a used tube for back-up purposes.

*Cavity touch-up tuning at customer site is recommended since shipping and tube installation will change the tuning characteristics slightly.
